Why do you play piano?

I was just wondering why other people play piano because I was thinking about buying one for stress relief, enjoyment, and the playing skills.

It's just a wonderful experience. You can feel yourself making progress. At first it is taxing and takes a long time to play anything well, and it's frustrating but you keep playing because you love the way it sounds and you want to play so badly. It took me forever to understand anything, I played things over and over for hours as a kid. I got so mad and wanted to stop, but then I'd see a professional and be inspired to be great like them.

Eventually you can play songs and it feels good. If it's a happy song it feels sweet, I find myself smiling, it's like the music pours out of you, it's indescribable and it sounds dumb but that's the way it is, at least for me. If it's a sad song you really just channel your emotion. Playing the piano is when my thoughts and senses are at their rawest and purist, it's amazing. All stress leaves my body, it's incredible, like being in another world.

And then once you get good, it's such an awesome experience. Your fingers just fly across the keys, it takes no effort at all. You fall in love with just the sound and feeling of the pressing down of the keys. Your muscles are so trained and stretched, it feels like you can do anything, but there are always challenging pieces to learn and you get the same frustration you had as when you started but it's bittersweet; because you get passed it and you know you've grown and pouring out the music is one of the greatest feelings ever. It's like when you hear a song or read a quote that means a lot to you, you just feel this warmth in your soul, that's what playing the piano is like.

    Definitely do it. :)
