I need to know if this is right or wrong in Japan?

So, on youtube, i see a lot of videos saying that sticking chop sticks into your rice is for mourning the dead. But does count for when you're using chop sticks to eat it? or is it only when you just stick it in and leave it there?

Sticking chopsticks in rice is a symbol most seen in Japanese funerals where they might plant incense sticks in a bowl of special ash. . There should be no need for you to poke your chopsticks in the rice bowl, but instead lay them on the side of the bowl or on the table when you are not eating. Obviously you have to poke them in when eating but you dont take your hands off the chopsticks do you?

    You misunderstood it.

Sticking chopsticks into a bowl of rice LOOKS and REMINDS people of funerals. In Buddhism, they burn incense sticks by sticking them in a bowl/tray of sand at funeral services.

It is considered impolite and even bad luck to do things that reminds or symbolizes funerals or anything related to burial.

It's basically wrong to stick chopsticks into rice no matter when you do it.

And there is no need to do it when you eat, if you eat with proper ways.

Sticking them in and leaving them there.
