Math story problem help?

Sally can paint a room in 3 hours while it takes Steve 9 hours to paint the same room. How long would it take them to paint the room if they worked together?

    Sally is equivalent to 3 of Steve, so together they are equivalent to 4 of Steve. It will take them 9/4 hours, or 2 hours 15 minutes.

    In 1 hr Sally can paint 1/3 of the room and Steve can paint 1/9 of the room

    So in 1 hr they together can paint 1/3 + 1/9 = 4/9 of the room

    So they can paint the entire room in 9/4 hours
