Has an NFL team ever been late to a game? like say their bus breaks down. or any professional team for that matter?

It has happened, but not very often. Before Super Bowl XVI, played in Pontiac MI, the two busses for the Niners got separated in traffic. The first one was able to get there OK, but the second had to get out of their lane, to let the motorcade of Vice President George H.W. Bush go by, and then it had trouble getting started in the slush and ice. They arrived about 10 minutes before introductions were scheduled (which were delayed) and had to get loosened up in the locker room.

It happens in baseball all the time. Usually because a night game the day before goes really late and the following day is a day game.
