    Yes.

There two actress named Michael, Michael Michele and Michael Learned. Does that make Michael less masculine because two actress are named Michael.

Harper is an last name, and harsh first name for either sex.

    It's not an girlie name.

Berta is not an girlie name, an bit harsh.

As for it being to manly, it depends on the couple naming the child.

Harper was 11 out of the top 1000 girl name.

It's an very common trendy girl name, but it's an masculine name.

I would have more of an problem of how common and trendy the name is

You could name here Money or Monkey or Harper. Harper is a surname. Why would you want to make it a girl's first name unless possibly it was a family name of hers. It does seem too masculine male, to me, in line with the general blurring of the sexes in society today. If you want to give her a surname, try one from your own family. I guess there could be some value in certain situations in having a name that disguises you gender in situations where a person first sees the name written and does not see the person until later. But to me it seems pretentions without any good purpose and misdirected, as if you are just trying to find in odd name to give her so that people will think you are clever. Not sure that is best for the girl. Put her welfare first in naming.

Yes, I don't know why Americans give masculine names for girls. Like Robin, in Europe it's a masculine name, after Robin Hood, but in America many women are named Robin. It's like the feminist no gender bull.

It's a girl name but reminds me of Steven Harper and a lot of people don't like him so I wouldn't use it.

I don't think so. I think it's a cute name. It's very trendy though, I can think of four little female Harpers I know all under the age of three.
