Why does punk rock attract the lower class kids?

Now I'm not trying to be rude or anything but I noticed a lot of artist such as greenday sum 41 linkin park simple plan evanescence Avril Levine etc. attract a lot of the kids who come from poor families and get into trouble skip class and stuff. now I'm not saying they're the only kids who listen to this music i my self love all these artist. But what I am wondering is it something these artist say in there music that these kids can relate to? or do they just like this kinda music?

Just a random question that popped in my head hope someone can help.

First of all the 'punk rock' genre includes many amazing artists. Second of all yes I would agree it's because they can relate to the songs/lyrics and I also find that band members can be of a role model or an example that things do change and you won't always be stuck in the same situation forever.

None of those band represent Punk Rock.

As for a link to a social class - well yes, because the essence of Punk was social challenge, helping to raise the confidence & inspire the disaffected, highlight the social ills that afflicted the impoverished & the down trodden. To challenge the status quo etc. So it goes without saying that the powerless & the fringe of society would be attracted to the scene. Please listen to The Dead Kennedys instead of that insipid crappola ;-)

Linkin Park is not punk nor is Sum 41 ( pop punk sorry is not the same). You are generalizing and forming your own visions in your head. Nothing more. Just because it "pops into your head," does not mean you should share it. Ask that to someone in real life not in front of a keyboard and a screen. See what happens then. This is advice only. I dont give a damn what you think.

Don't know that it does. Most punk groups are full of University type people who aren't dumb. Even the fans are usually art type students who talk pseudo political dribble. Heavy metal attracts lower class/ working class fans.

I loved Avril Levine when I was a kid, and I'm definitely well off. I'd say Middle Class.

Music has more of a generational following.

i think people just like this certain type of music. it's not that a paticular group likes this music, music is open to everyone.
