Do contact lenses get expired by days worn or days opened?

So I'm playing to get contact lenses, they last 3 months. So I'm wondering if that 3 months is after you opened it, or 3 months of wearing it (like I can wear it every other day for 6 months)

You can stretch them out for an extra month , but an extra 3 months would mean having to use Enzyme Protein Remover tablets which are expensive and not cost effective. After 3 months the lenses will really be getting plugged up with mostly invisible deposits from your tears which really cut down on the oxygen that can get through them , even if they haven't been worn every day. Enzyme tablets can prolong the life of the lenses another month by removing most of that protein more effectively than just the cleaner you use.
