Anything you wish to read, you may read. What do you like to read?
When I was 21, I was introduced to the mystery genre by an Agatha Christie fan, and to Jane Austen s books by a War of 1812 re-enactor. I had read the Regency romances by Georgette Heyer, which are not as spicy and steamy as the Regencies written today. Those were just starting to get spicy in the 1980 s. I also started reading Charles Dickens s books too.

Pick a genre you like then about half the books you read, ick them out of that genre. I like an expanded view of science fiction that includes fantasy, spy thrillers, detective novels.
Then mix in half classics for self betterment. You're an adult so that is now a part of your never ending quest.

I liked Maeve Binchy and Anne Tyler at your age. Then there are classics like Wuthering Heights and Pride and Prejudice which were basis of YA books and far superior.
