Sure, it is dangerous for anyone. If could be an appendicitis, gallstones, a hernia or one of a dozen or more other issues, including a mild sprain.

Sounds like a surgical belly, to me.

She needs to get scanned ASAP, preferably with oral contrast, to get a better idea of what's causing the problem.
