Should I take my car into a body shop for an estimate?
So today I was in a accident. I was rear ended by a car waiting at a stop light. So there I was just chilling when a car struck the car behind me sending them sailing into me. Then the driver at fault fled the scene. I called the police and the driver behind me went to the hospital. They took my info and what I witnessed and told me to go home. There's hardly any damage at all on my car no dents or scratches just some misshapen lumps that your really have to stare at to notice. I don't plan of fixing it either. My car drives normally but because they filed a police report I filed a claim with my insurance. Should I take it in?

You've sustained impact absorber damage, most only take one hit, they're under the plactic cover that's been deformed slightly (and clear coat damage you'll see in a couple months) In the hundreds of these I saw in our fleet no visible damage was usually just under $1800.00 us dollars with commercial discount. With deformation or just a small scrape or cut rarely over $4000 damage to car but often thousands in medical to vehicle occupants. Give yourself a day or two before you claim no injury, but get that car in now for an estimate. The next hit could be bad if all the impact / shock absorption parts are damaged (used up).

Your insurance company will advise you, they will determine what should be done. If you don't want your car repaired, why would you want/need an "estimate"?
