What is the prison sentence for sexual abuse committed by somebody under the age of 18?
I know an eight grader who is now officially a sexual offender and am just wondering how long he will go to jail for if he commits sexual abuse.

They can charge minors as adults. So he could get the full punishment. I've heard of cases where 15 year olds go to prison and don't leave until they are 30.

If the perpetrator is tried and convicted as an adult, the penalty will be the same as for an adult.
In California, a 14-year-old can be tried as an adult if the judge says so.
Otherwise, the Juvenile system is focused on rehabilitation rather than punishment, and it will depend on a lot of things.
