Can I get a virus on my Android?

I am not talking about a suspicious app. I was looking for a comic to see if I enjoyed it, so I found a torrent so I could read for free. (Foolish to do without anti virus, i know. I probably deserve any virus i may\may not have.)but when I clicked on the site it said my browser was infected and that I needed to take a couple of steps to uninfect it. I freaked out and closed the browser. It looked legit because it had the Google error image that pops up every once in a while. I downloaded McAfee to see if it was infected, but it said I was clean. I am severely confused. Is there any ways I can be absolutely sure that I am clean?

Method 1 - Install Mobile Antivirus Software

Method 1 - Install Mobile Antivirus Software

The following is list of free mobile antivirus software. The antivirus software will remove the virus and also prevent the virus from reinfecting your mobile phone. They will work with any service provider (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint). Note: You should only have one antivirus app running on your mobile phone.

    avast! Mobile Security

    Lookout Mobile Security

    AVG Mobilation

    Dr.Web for Android

Method 2 - Reset Android Phone to Factory Settings

If the antivirus app doesn't remove the virus, you need to reset your Android phone to its factory default settings. This will delete all your personal data and apps from the phone, so make sure your important data is backed up.

The user manual that came with your mobile phone should provide detailed information on how reset your phone to factory settings. If you don't have the manual, read this article: How to Reset Your Android Phone
