Do you have to have the name on your passport on your rail card?

I don t like my first name and want to put my preferred name instead, I ll still have my last name

    If you mean a middle name which also appears on your passport and other official documents, that would probably (but not definitely) work. It it is a completely separate name, that could lead to suspicions that you have got another person's passport or railcard, which could lead to anything from simply being refused discounted tickets up to getting arrested on suspicion of having stolen a passport and detained until they sort out what has really happened.

    If you don't, they can refuse the rail card since it's not in your name.
