Can you carry on a backpack on an Amtrack Train?

Just wondering how big the carry-on can be. Thanks.

YES you can have a back pack. Slightly smaller than a house able to go in the overhead rack.

It needs to fit a space of ONE bag.

    two carry-on items, 50 lbs. (23 kg) and 28 x 22 x 14 inches each, onboard.

Generally if you can carry it you can take it on an Amtrak train. They do have a length requirement but I have never seen it enforced. You can also check baggage at many (but not all) stations. And you can check a bicycle. In some places you can just have it put in the baggage car; in other places you must buy a special box from Amtrak.

They will just depend on how much you are carrying and what objects you are taking.
