Will a dismissed misdemeanor prevent me from renting?

Update:

I got a shoplifting misdemeanor about a year ago. It was a really bad time and I did some bad things. Needless to say, it was my first AND last time doing something that stupid. I got a lawyer and he was able to get the charges dismissed. I will be able to get it expunged in a few months, but for now it does say dismissed on my record. Will the fact that my charge was dismissed and shows dismissed on my record be okay or will it still effect me renting whether it's dismissed or not?

You may have to prove that it was dismissed (speaking from experience). But if you were charged and not convicted you will be ok.

If it still shows on your record, then likely yes.
