Why is my Windows Media Player failing to burn music CDs?

I tried to burn an audio CD and for some reason, it fails. It prepares the tracks just fine, but when actually writing to the disc after a minute, it suddenly stops, ends the burn, and ejects the failed CD-R which then in turn has to be thrown out since it was messed up. It comes up with an error as well.

I'm on Windows 7 and was using Windows Media Player for it. Should I try a different program to burn CDs instead or something?

Not all brands of CD-Rs are created equal. Check the brand of your burner against the brand of cds you've bought. I learned after many different brands that my LG burner only worked with Memorex CD's and DVD's.
