christians...what does the bible say the minute you die, where do you go after death?

The spirit go to heaven (just the breath of life), you and your soul are in are in a "state of sleep" until the resurrection day(judgment day) after the judgment God decides if you go to heaven or hell, that's the second death once in heaven or hell is eternity....Ecclesiastes 9:5-6

5 For the living know that they will die;

"But the dead know nothing, "

And they have no more reward,

For the memory of them is forgotten.

6 Also their love, their hatred, and their envy have now perished;

Nevermore will they have a share

In anything done under the sun.

What is the condition of the dead?

It doesn't say where you go the minute you die. However Jesus spoke of the beggar Lazarus and the rich man. The rich man was in hell looking up at Lazarus who was with Abraham, asking him for a drop of water. The passage indicates that they could see each other but also says that they couldn't cross over to each other. When we die we go to heaven if we believe in Jesus.

God told Adam and Eve when they died they would go back to the ground "from dust you are and to dust you will return" (Genesis 3:19. The Bible says, "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.(2 Corinthians 5:8)

When we die, our body goes into the grave to rot but our spirit leaves our body and returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7) - I presume our return to God is for judgement, because it is appointed unto man once to die, and then comes the judgement (Hebrews 9:27)

John 5:28 says you are sleeping in the grave or non existance. He then says, you will be resurrected if your a good person. Then the unrighteous are those who never had a chance to hear about god but were a good person. They will come back to live again. So basically when you die you stop living. Your gone.

The Book of Ecclesiastes is a compare and contrast between living life with a fleshly, materialistic world view and being spiritually dead versus living life with a spiritual view and being spiritually alive.

Ecclesiastes 9 is talking about what happens to our flesh bodies and our flesh based thoughts.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 KJV Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Our flesh bodies return to the earthly minerals they are made of and our spirits *return* to God who gave them.

*Another thing to consider is if souls are judged to which side of the current gulf in heaven they go to, they are in the presence of God to be judged.
