I have an external hard drive connected to my Samsung TV; whilst it is recording, I can't access the TV guide. Is there a way round this?

The recording is a simple, unpowered 500GB USB hard-drive.

The guide I can't access is the normal TV guide (i.e. the one that appears when you've selected TV as the source and press the 'Guide' button). The same guide I use to select programs to record.

Mine works fine. I just press the smart hub button and I see the TV guide.

(Notice the lack of information in my post? Almost as vague as yours).

What model Samsung do you have and how do you have it hooked up?

What device is doing the 'recording'?

What TV guide are you having issues with? The one in the smart hub, the one on a cable/sat box, the one on a dedicated channel with your TV service?

Without more details, we really cannot debug your problem.
