How to make bread crumbs crunchy on top of salmon?

So my sister makes baked salmon with bread crumbs on top but she doesn't use oil or butter to crunch the crumbs, she uses eggs. She thinks that's the only way to crunch the crumbs. Has anyone heard of that before?

Nope, never heard of using egg to make breadcrumbs crunchy.

Toast some panko in a pan with bit of butter before placing on top.

Use panko and toast them before you put them on the salmon, on the stovetop.

I don't know what you mean by crunching the crumbs. They do need some oil or butter mixed in with them or you would just have dry crumbs on top of salmon.
