Well...it kinds depends on what you want to do.

If you play a lot of games in windows, and if you really "need" windows for some "specific" reason- then windows will be best for you.

But, if you just need a solid OS that just works- no hassles- no virus problems....then one of the "user friendly" Linux distros will be far easier to use than any version of windows- and they just do not have any issues.

The downside- most of the apps you run in windows do not run well in Linux without help. BUT- there are alternative apps that are written for Linux that are FREE to download and are just as good if not better than the windows apps.

You just have to figure out if there is something in windows that you can not do without....if so, then, for you- windows is better. But if not- then something like Linux Mint or Ubuntu will be far easier to use and absolutely trouble free.

Warning: There are at least 300 different Linux distro's available.....many are absolutely not made with the newbie in mind. Stick to popular user friendly distros.

If you want to actually interact with other people, enjoy games, enjoy the freedom to download almost every single program on the internet. Then windows is better. Linux has its place in the work place. Servers etc, but in a home environment for work and play windows is better.
