Is Dissociative identity disorder a real mental illness?

It dosnt seem like a realistic illness

    The "bible" for mental illness is the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM), and this illness is identified and described in the DSM.

    Everything depends on the individual who suffers. It is known to the subjective mind of the individual. If it is fake or duplicate, you will be the first person to know about it. If you want to maintain secrecy, it will be to your own disadvantage.

    It is but it is very rare. There was a well known movie with Sally Fields in it based on the book by the same name "Sybil" about a woman who had 16 documented personalities. She was subject to horrific child abuse by a sadistic mother who was likely mentally ill herself.
