Start by removing all trim. All glass, lights and all removable panels such as doors hood and trunk. That includes stripping the doors to just the metal panels.
Then sort out any dents and really bad areas.
You then use a scotchbrite pad to go over the whole car. No need to remove the old paint to metal.
Then you take the car to a professional spray shop as the paints are very poisonous.
They will isolate the existing paint. Then prime and paint the car.
When it returns you reassemble the car.
All trim lights and glass back.
Expect to pay $3000 for a decent paint job.
They should take a week to 10 days to do the car properly.
