Do you agree with AG Lynch that love and compassion are the best ways to combat terrorism?

Do you think she would be willing to walk into an ISIS camp and tell them that?

I think we have to lead by example. We won't convince others of our values and way of life unless we can demonstrate why they are good and effective and in everyone's best interests. I wouldn't call it love and compassion though I would call it education and publicity.

We have the rule of law so anyone who breaks them must face the consequences. That is all part of our values and way of life.

If we crap in someone else's backyard, we are saying they have the right to crap in ours.

In each case, what we sow is what we reap so it is up to us to act wisely and in accordance with the values we want others to adopt. If we can't get it right, why should they?

She actually has history to back her up here. If you look at past situations where dictatorships have been overthrown, massive and passive resistance has been far more successful than armed insurrection. This of course applies to citizens within a state. So passive resistance would be a way for people living among ISIS to destroy them, yes.

All dictatorships, all terror, is a conspiracy between the perpetrators and the people they rule over. No one can rule without cooperation from the population.

Lynch combated the crimes of singling out conservative organizations at the IRS by ignoring those crimes and letting Lois Lerner off the hook. Are we calling that "love and compassion" or just plain old corruption?

I think that view is wildly optimistic, but starting big wars that cause a lot of "collateral damage" and cost taxpayers trillions isn't such a great idea either.

The best way to deal with terrorism is Lead poison always has always will be. It's a problem we can kill our way out of. But our leaders lack the will. And for those saying it will only breed more terrorism is stupid if you get rid enough you wear them down through attrition and the problem solves it self.

Except that's not what she said.

    As usual.

A few words taken out of context and deliberately misrepresented.

“To the LGBT community — we stand with you,” President Obama’s attorney general said. “The good in this world far outweighs the evil. Our common humanity transcends our differences, and our most effective response to terror is compassion, it’s unity and it’s love. We stand with you today because we grieve together, and long after the cameras are gone will continue to stand with you as we grow together in commitment and solidarity and in equality.”

She wasn't suggesting we treat the terrorist with love and understanding, she was talking about the victims.

Are cons incapable of understanding what they read or do they like to pretend their followers can't.

The way to combat terrorism is bombing them into oblivion, then send in ground troops to mop up.

Totally. Just like if you hug the bear that's eating you, he'll stop eating you, or, uh, something.

The way to fight terrorism is to prevent terrorist cells from recruiting new members. If the only strategy you have is to fight them, that is a battle that will never end.
