What are the dead sea scrolls?

The Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of some 981 different texts discovered between 1946 and 1956 in eleven caves in the immediate vicinity of the ancient settlement at Khirbet Qumran in the West Bank.

Basically, the Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of very old writings and they date back to Biblical time. Some of the scrolls contain some of the same writing that is found in the Hebrew Bible. (so it has some of the same stories or information as the actual Hebrew Bible)
