Is it dirty to wash in Lake Michigan?

I was cleaning my face in the water and my friend said it was nasty because, buttholes, dead fish, nasty bodily fluids, herpes juices, and a bunch of other nasty things was also in the water. I could not help but believe he was making a great point. I also do not want to believe that I cannot wash my face in Lake Michigan without it being nasty. Can someone give me a little truth?

    Lake Michigan is pretty clean.

    You're not going to get herpes or stds from lake water.

    Unless you're around a sewage drain you should be fine.

    Dogs and humans leave excrement in there which is nasty plus there's dead fish,crawler's and tings.
