Has Raonic played today's Wimbledon in John Mmcenroe's honor?
I know you have to change up your games to a certain extent but I have never seen Roanic approach the net this many times in a match. For a while it appeared to be good to continue being aggressive but Murray has continued to kill him with the passing shot when he approaches. I would assume if the approach was a suggestion from his new consultant, a backup plan would have been planned if 70/80s gameplan didn't workout

I think some of all that net-approaching may well have been at McEnroe's suggestion. Having commentated so often on the Murray matches, he perhaps saw something in Murray's game that suggested Raonic might gain some points by approaching the net. I think Roanic over-did it by a mile. And it wasn't effective at all, was it.
Murray was far too easily able to fire a passing shot past him!!

For a 6'5" guy, like Raonic, who hits his serve at 140 mph, the best tactic is usually to play serve-and-volley.
Unfortunately, the best serve-and-volleyers hit one-handed backhands, and Milos hits a 2H BH, so he was ill-coached when he was coming up, IMHO. Should have been taught to hit a 1H BH when he was 8 or 9 years of age or younger.
Rushing the net from a slow-moving groundstroke on the new, slow, grass, doesn't work very well, as you guys must have seen.
