what is the difference between buyers and sellers in major league baseball?

    Teams with a chance to get into the playoffs are said to be buyers as they are looking for a few players who could help them get in. Sellers are the teams that are having poor seasons.

    Buyers are adding players to make a playoff run for this year. Sellers have given up on this year.

    Buyers are teams at the all star break who are in contention and give up prospects and bad players and trade them to bad teams for good players. Sellers are bad teams who have nothing to lose and give up all star players for minor league prospects.
