    Excel can be useful as an easier alternative to a database for simple tasks. It is, or can be, a searchable list, which can be enough at times. I have my DVD collection on Excel. As Fred said, it is NOT a true database, and will never behave like one.

    You can not, it is NOT a database. It is a spread sheet which is totally different. And you can not run it on a web server for online use.
