Contact the Linn building permit office, and ask. I don't think it's required unless you plan on having someone live in it, but it will only take you an hour or less to find out and might save you a lot of trouble later.

Call planning and zoning in your city, township, or county. They should know without looking up code. However if it is required go meet with them, it should be okay to submit a hand drawing.
