Are there any major differences between freshman and sophomore year of high school?

I'd say that your grades from this year and forward will count more towards colleges. That's probably the only major thing I see.
The only other thing that might be different is that you might have more electives to chose from. In my high school, the "cool" electives were generally for juniors and seniors, while some others where for sophomores and up, and not whole lot for freshmen.
