    Just let them know maybe some other time, you don't feel like hanging out now and maybe they will get the msg.

    Not feeling well, didn't sleep well, period cramps (if you're female), your pet/child/spouce/roommate needs you home right now, car trouble, not enough cash to go out, stomach bug, fever, intense allergies,

    Working late, project due, plumbing issues in house, cable guy is coming today, ect...
