You can purchase Ant Killer Spray at almost every store with a garden department. Get the kind that attaches to the hose, and then spray the tree and lawn.
Don't over do it. Once the lawn and tree are wet, stop spraying and save the spray for the second spraying that will be necessary in two weeks to kill the ant eggs that hatch out after you spray.

I m struggling with them myself right now. I have fruit trees, if you do check for them in there. They like to farm pests like scale and aphids for their honey dew so I cut all foliage away from the house and fences. Then I sprayed ortho ant spray (get the one with a battery sprayer, sooooo much easier) and did a coat around the base of the house, doors, windows, along the top and bottom of the fence, top and bottom of my porch posts (little brats actually used my roof for transport!) and of the trunks fruit trees. I also got a hose sprayer pesticide for the trees and bought borax powder on line and mixed it with some canned cat food and put it around the yard, the ants come and take the delicious borax laced cat food back to their nest and it kills them all. I preferred this to the poison bait drops that do the same thing because I have pets and the borax is not poisonous to them or kids.
Good luck!
