Best snowblower brand?
My 20YO Craftsman with a B&S engine has been a workhorse for me in New England, but has been losing power and last winter could barely throw the snow over the banks (yes, changed belts, cleaned card, etc.).
I'm looking to buy a new model (24", 2-stage) for the coming winter. I've heard nightmare storied from friends who have bought newer Craftsman, so that's out. What's the best residential brand? Right now I'm thinking Ariens or Husqvarna.

My brother and I both have Ariens and they do really well but we've only had them one winter so far. Ariens is a very popular brand too. One thing, starting new snowblowers has about 4 or 5 steps, I have them on a sheet, it is like NASA. I thought you should be aware when looking for a new one. Ask how to start them. After a few tries, it is pretty easy but then you forget till next winter, LOL! Make sure you have instructions for the right model. Mine say NOT to turn the key, but you HAVE to turn the key. Instead of making things easier....

I am in NH and get home to 3-4 feet of snow to be cleared, I bought a John Deere 28" 14 HP and I love it, also has an electric chute lever so I can change where I am throwing it, plus heated grips. What ever you buy, make sure there is a local dealer for parts and maintenance

I have a ariens that's from 1982. It still starts on the first pull. It still performs well. All I have done is replace the belts a few times, and oil changes.
