My make up always looks bad?
I try so hard and no matter what, it'll cling to dry places around the nose, slip off my acne, look powdery, uneven and cakey.
Here is my cleansing/makeup routine -
L-Lactic Fruit Enzyme Cleanser (light exfloiator)
Vitamin B serum (sometimes for acne)
Antipodes eye cream
Synergie moisturiser
Either nars tinted moisturizer or Natio Foundation (either with a damp beauty blender or brush)
Maybelline Fit me concealer/Age rewind concealer under eyes (always looks bumpy after a few hours)
Stay Matte Powder
Bronzer
Light Highlighting Powder
Brown Eyeshadow
It always looks bad no matter what I do!
Any suggestions? Thanks
I also use either a smashbox hydrating primer or aloe vera gel as primer

You need a really good primer. Aloe vera gel will just make it worst and the primer that you're using most likely isn't working well with your skin. I d recommend the Benefit Porefessional but there are a lot out there. Then, you should only apply moisturizer in your dry spots and less on any area that isn t dry or is a bit oily. Set your concealer with translucent powder right after you apply it and as for the rest of your face just really try to use very minimal product and blend. Don t just put a bunch on and then blend because by then you ve already applied too much. Start slow and take baby steps.

I have the same issues, I've found that I can't moisturise straight before applying make up or it'll just slide off. After washing my face and using toner I get rid of any oil on my face by using blotting paper (Kleenex do a good one) and then applying primer, I typically use benefit porefessional or one by MD formulations, I find they work great. I also keep the blotting paper in my bag to keep up to it through the day, it really helps keep my make up in tact. Also when trying to find new foundations to avoid making my acne worse somebody told me to avoid any foundations that contain titanium dioxide as they will just continue to break you out. It was hard finding one that didn't contain it but eventually I found Benefit's Big Easu and it has not once break me out, the coverage is good for me but if it's not full coverage enough I know Bobbi Brown doesn't use titanium dioxide in her products. Hope I helped:)

Your primer probably isn't working for you. Try out a new primer and see if it works better. You can also use a setting spray in addition to your powder to hold your makeup in place after everything is done. Also, make sure you're using the right brushes and watch tutorials on YouTube to see if you're applying the products correctly.

Look for products that are labelled oil controlling or pore minimizing . A great primer that locks foundation in all day is the Smashbox PhotoFinish Pore minimising primer, it will keep your foundation in place for over eight hours whilst minimising your pores. A great powder for oil control to keep the foundation in place and stop it slipping over breakouts is the Mac blotting pressed powder. Try some blotting papers like the clean and clear blotting sheets then you can touch up throughout the day. I also suggest a setting spray like the urban decay de slick oil controlling spray, this is like extra locking action and should definately stop oil breaking through without caking onto dry patches. One thing to bare in mind with the powder and primer is to try and only apply most of it to the oily areas of your face, like your t-zone and breakouts. This will avoid cakey face and dry patches. Apply a light moisturizer a hour before applying your makeup to keep your skin hydrated.

Do you exfoliate often? Or use moisturizing masks as well?
Sometimes I need to use a thick lotion on my face at night and sleep with it to help the dry patches. They have primer and setting sprays that are supposed to help that.
Like sephora and drugstore ones.

Why not just stop wearing makeup then? It is not a necessity.
