Help with Chicago hotel... (aquairum, field museum, zoo)?
We have been to Chicago but it has been about 25 years.... We are looking at heading to Chicago next month for a couple days to hit up the aquarium, Field Museum and zoo.
Given the drama and expense of driving/parking in Chicago, does anyone have any good hotel suggestions for the area that are either within a fair walking distance or walking distance to public transportation?
Or, open to other suggestions...
Thanks!

There are plenty of hotels in Downtown Chicago; you will have to check them out (you can just leave the car at the hotel, but there may be additional fees).
The Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, and Adler Planetarium are in, pretty much, the same area that is called the "Museum Campus." CTA Bus #130 goes to the Museum Campus.
Lincoln Park Zoo (kind of small) is about 2-3 miles from Downtown Chicago; there are multiple buses that go near there from downtown.
While in the city, you can also take a taxi or Uber to get around, instead of taking the bus.
Brookfield Zoo (the biggest zoo in the area) is about 17-20 miles from downtown; you may want to drive there.

Downtown Chicago hotel charge a hefty fee to park your car. With no in/out privileges.
I am in the burbs about an hour drive out of Chicago. If I can figure out how to take a Chicago bus, anyone can. To go to the aquarium and musums it is the easiest and cheapest way to get around.
We have stayed at the Marriott Renaissance hotel. You can walk to Milennum Park and the Art museum and The Lake.

If you are flying in, take the CTA to downtown Chicago. Find a hotel in your price range, and use public transportation. Someone suggested driving to Brookfield zoo, but there is a Zoo stop in Brookfield on the BNSF line, with a short walk to the zoo.
