If Dexter Morgan was real could he really go his whole life killing the way he does and not get caught?
And my definition of caught is ya know arrested and sent to death, not Debra finding out that he's a killer.

Some have, especially when you work in forensics you have a lot of wiggle-room, the problem is of course, when you go un-captured in real-life, nobody is sure you did it, it can only be theorized(most of the people who are suspected of being Jack The Ripper were doctors, or in the medical-field).
There also were multiple Medical-Examiners, and Forensic-Scientists who have been convicted of murders, so it'd all depend on how careful he was.

Well, there are a few times in the series where he is literally seconds or inches away from being caught, but doesn't. If a serial killer got THAT close to being caught, they'd probably be caught. Also, if he killed as frequently as he did for his entire life, he'd probably get caught at some point, or would mess up when trying to capture a victim, and be killed by them.
However, there are of course serial killers who never end up being caught. Such as the Zodiac killer. Though, of course, it's believed that he killed FAR FEWER people than Dexter does in the series.

Maybe, maybe not. People get away with stuff.
