    Please tell me you didn't go to school in the US.

    50 stars. One for each state.

    13 stripes. 7 red, 6 white. One for each of the original 13 colonies.

    I don't know who Betty Ross is but Betsy Ross is said to have made the first flag.

    Well, you got some of the answers you were looking for, but I'm guessing the purpose of the homework assignment was for YOU to find and learn this information. You will never get a grasp of history until you do the learning, not have selected facts spoon-fed to you. All the hard work of those historical figures are for nothing unless you learn the best you can what they were trying to teach.

    at this time in history the number of stars is fifty - one for each state in the united states. there are territories/protectorate of the usa, eg puerto rico and guam, that if made states in the future would add stars to the present fifty
