18 and wanting to travel alone?

Hi guys. I'm 18 years old as the top says. I am thinking about planning a trip. I want to get to see a bit more of the world before I get too busy to do it. I don't want to take a year off to travel but I am thinking that maybe during march break I could take a few days and go somewhere. I only really know English, bad at French and Spanish although I will probably get to be decent at Spanish by the time march break hits. Money won't be a problem, I am able to save about 150 every 2 weeks at the least so enough money for wherever I decide to go. So the questions:

1. Good places to go?

2. Would a writer's retreat be a good idea?

3. Average cost of a vacation

4. Teen travelling alone tips

5. Anything else you think would help.

Your question is a bit open-ended, so it's hard to know how to answer it. Traveling is a great idea. And the lucky thing about being an English speaker is that you don't really need to know any other language- although it's nice to know a little and to be able to read the signs. But I've been in lots of places where I couldn't read anything- China, Vietnam, Japan- I do better with European languages. Most of the time, even if you try to speak the local language, they reply in English because their English is better than our Spanish or French or whatever!

Your age is both a drawback and an advantage. It's hard to get a hotel room at 18. But the youth hostels in Europe are great, and a good way to meet other people who are traveling.

I have to strongly recommend that you start with some kind of travel around Europe- with a rail pass if you can take a week or more. Or just pick a city that interests you and stay put there. We've spent a week in Paris almost every year for the past 10 years and still haven't scratched the surface. Italy is also an amazing country.

You can go to a warm place for the Sun. or go to a colder place for a winter ski adventure.

Suggest you look on Campus for group packages.
