Kell is in an awkward situation here because he's facing a pressure fighting counter-puncher. If he back peddles for most of the fight, he's going to find himself trapped as Golovkin's movement around the ring and his ability to make the ring smaller is one of his best attributes in my opinion. If Brook stands and trades with Golovkin, then it comes down to whether or not Brook can a) handle Gennady's power, b) counter the counter-puncher and c) hurt Golovkin with his power.

Brook will be able to land cleanly on Golovkin, but if Golovkin doesn't respect his power and is unfazed by Brook's shots then I think Brook is in serious trouble. Then of course it remains to be seen if Golovkin will use his ram rod jab as well. He used it effectively against Lemieux, so could the same sort of tactics be used against Kell Brook?

It'll be interesting to see how the fight starts, I expect Golovkin to come flying out of the gate and to immediately apply pressure onto Brook and it will be interesting to see if Brook can handle the pressure, tie up Golovkin and insert his own authority on to the fight early. The first few rounds will be telling. If it happens as I expect (Golovkin will insert dominance early) then Brook is in trouble.

Amir Khan was fortunate against Canelo because Canelo can be somewhat of a slow starter to a fight but what we saw was Canelo going to the body of Khan and wore him down before KO'ing him. Maybe a similar fate awaits Kell Brook. We shall see.

The general consensus thought is to move and box which I think is stupid. Curtis Stevens, Kaasim Ouma, and Willie Monroe who had some success against Golovkin in some rounds did not move and box. They stood in the pocket and threw punches to push Golovkin on his backfoot. If you ever noticed when Golovkins being pushed back he never throws any punches back he just backs up and looks to avoid punches. When fighters run from him, it gives him more opportunities as he knows how to cut the ring off and trap them and knows how to get his punches off full power. Brook will need to stay close enough to where 3Gs smothering his own attack or to where he can't get full leverage on his punches and push him back instead of 3G pushing him back.
