Felony or Misdemeanor?

The employer asked do you have any felonies? "Not" have you been arrested or "Not" have you been convicted but they only ask...Do you have any felonies??? The response is no ...That is the truth...but after the background check and they see the misdemeanors (3) they don't call back. That's not fair....if they are not concern with the misdemeanors..so they say during the interview...Why hold them against a person? What can a person do or say to get hired ...serious answers only thanks.

Apply at a place where they will consider you.

Even though you only have misdemeanors, they were still crimes. Apparently the company where you did apply had other options. They don't have to ask you up front - that's probably the first pass, so they don't have to pay fora background check.

If you Google "jobs for felons", you will get links to long lists of some very familiar companies. Since you are having trouble with a background check, concentrate on applying to companies that will consider someone with something on their background check- you should have a better chance of employment.

No, it's perfectly fair. They didn't say they weren't concerned with misdemeanors. All they did was ask you if you have any felonies, that doesn't mean they don't care about misdemeanors. It just means that PARTICULAR question concerned felonies.

There may be other reasons why they didn't call back too. You may have had competition.

If enough years have passed - try to get an expongment of the misdemeanors. It may help get it off of your record. May - not sure.

Ever think someone else was just better than you? I mean, even if they were equal in every way except they didn't have a record, you don't get called back. You aren't the only one they interviewed.
