A waste of time?

If someone is allergic to wine, should they become a chef or would it be a waste of time due to the amount of wine used in cooking?

Not at all. You don't always need to drink the wine nor taste the food if you're confident with how you measured the seasoning etc. You can also ask someone else to do the taste for any cooking involving wines.

There are plenty of things that are cooked without wine, but I wouldn't suggest working in a French restaurant.

See an allergist to be properly tested. You may be allergic to other foods, or you may be allergic only to certain kinds of wine.

There is plenty of non alcoholic cuisine an allergic chef could specialize in.

If you ARE the chef, the YOU determine if or when wine is ot be used.

I cooked for 25 years without using wine, simply becauseI don;t like it.
