It does zilch? What about all those lawsuits over copyright? Remember Napster? Limewire? Bearshare? They got shutdown because of copyright violations. Ever hear of people getting nasty letters about illegal downloads? That's all because of copyright. So please explain what you mean by "it does zilch".

Right, you're thinking of all the sides that already have the cases in their pocket.
They win just for writing the first check. So is it a dispute, sure, but it's not a fair fight.Copyright basically as far as I can tell is only there so the bigger dog can rob you and get away with it because it's all perfectly "legal".

it does a lot. with a copyright no one can claim someone elses work for there own and profit off of it.

It exists to provide legal recourse for the authors, musicians, publishers, and producers of entertainment whose work has been pirated to sue for recovery of lost income.

Really? When was the last time you went and started duplicating movies or CDs and went to try to sell them on your local street corner?
