Is a Journalism degree worth it?

Everything that's involved within Journalism lies straight into my passion and what i'm normally good at. Writing, presenting, researching, reading etc. However, most people discourage me from it for a few reasons. Salary is one. It's said to not earn you much with the exception of eventually working for renowned outlets only. And secondly, it's not in high demand, making employment hard/slow.

Is a Bachelor's in Journalism good, and why? (it's what i really want) If not, what would be a good alternative to it?

If you want to do journalism, you can get a professional degree that corresponds to the area of coverage you prefer, i.e. science, law, politics, etc. Then you can complete a short journalism program.
