I have a number of favourites, albeit from more recent years than the previous answer.

France v England (2007 World Cup semi) England battled through and eventually knocked out the hosts when they weren t expected to.

Australia v England (2003 World Cup final) England crowned world champions to cap a golden era.

South Africa v Japan (2015 World Cup) Smaller nation shocks one of the Giants of the game. Well done to Japan for going for the try in overtime, it paid dividends.

New Zealand v Wales (2003 World Cup) End to end stuff.

Australia v Scotland (2015 World Cup) ditto.

New Zealand v France (1999 World Cup) How DID New Zealand lose that one?

New Zealand v France (2007 World Cup) How DID New Zealand lose that one?

New Zealand v France (2015 World Cup) A level 1 nation really sticking one on another level 1 nation.

New Zealand v Australia (2015 World Cup final) the best final of the 8 which have been played.

Wales v England (2011 Six Nations) Friday night rugby with a beer in my hand.

Ireland v England (2003 Six Nations) Six Nations won by blowing Ireland away.

England v Australia (1995 World Cup) Rob Andrew s boot doing the honours.

England v Australia (2007 World Cup quarter final) England made their scrum look like marshmallows. Unexpected win.

Generally acknowledged as the finest rugby match ever to be televised was the match between The Barbarians and New Zealand at Cardiff Arms Park in 1973.

Playing in this match were some of the greatest rugby players ever, such as Gareth Edwards, JPR Williams, Willie-John McBride, Phil Bennett, John Dawes, Fergus Slattery and Ian Kirkpatrick.

I well remember watching this match on TV at the time. The start was astonishing and the rest of the first half even more astonishing. The second half was even better.

Any fan of rugby has not lived unless they sit down and watch the entire match.
