Is the software program REAPER, safe to download?

This program called REAPER is an audio production software program. You can only download it. I am wondering if is a safe reliable Audio Production Software Program?

    It's perfectly safe from the official site - but not free.

    A download from any other site may be infected with malware and/or be a total fake...

    I prefer Tracktion, and that does have a full, totally free, version.
