Willy Wonka has much more imagination with its being made prior to the advent of computer generated technology. I like Burton & Depp, but the preference for Gene Wilder is enough to o.d. on snozzberries over.

the original. i prefer the all knowing quirky willy wonka in the first to the clueless, phobic ridden, daffy one of the second. the subplot about wonka's father added nothing to the plot. i also didn't like the neon color scheme or the music of the second movie. the kids and their families in both movies were great.

    The former.

I saw them both as an adult so its not childhood sentimentality playing into my answer.

Im just sick to death of Tim Burton as a director.

1971 version, the other is just too creepy, and the oompa loompa's, all the same person!

The book is better than the movies.
