Can you claim land that is in the middle of nowhere?
If you have someone that's into bush craft and want to build a home stead in the middle of nowhere and the land is not owned, are there laws are against moving onto the land and developing it, i'm talking about land that is in BFE , 100s of miles from anything or anyone. Is there a process to claiming the land? people who know something preferably!

Yes, certainly. In most US states (and a few other common-law countries) there is a process of "adverse possession" under which you may "squat" on a piece of privately owned land and wait out the statute of limitations for trespassing. If your occupancy meets the various criteria, the title to at least some of the parcel becomes yours automatically. That's the "common law", but many places have modified that with statutes.
Criteria vary and may include a requirement to actually notify the recorded title owners of your intentions, plus paying taxes, plus posting other forms, not to mention proving that your use was "open, continuous, exclusive, adverse and notorious."
In other words, if the owners of the land don't take steps to discover you're there (and you're not hiding and you're keeping others out), then they may lose the right to have you ejected.
