Why was operation High Jump cut so short when it was initially planned as a much longer and comprehensive exploratory and defense mission?
I'm interested in all theories but would also like to know what was the "official" response and justification of the nationalities involved in said expedition. From what I've found that there was 4 deaths listed which although sad, are not to be unexpected in such a environmentally hostile place and couldn't have been a justification for wasting such an investment so soon after the war.
