Why doesn't he like me?

I met an exchange student at my school, and I liked him a lot, I gave him a tour of the school and have always been nice to him. he started to talk to other girls that were exchange students, and one girl also talks to him who seems to be really interested in him. He comes in the mornnings during breakfeast to sit with me, and I hugged him on his birthday. Although when we get out of class he leaves early so that I don't talk with him. He always seems to be in a hurry and he leaves early when I talk with him. He seemes to walk and talk so nicely with one of the exchange student girls. He always walks with her to class and is always joking with her, but never talks with me. During lunch I sit with him and that girl, he talks to her, and once she asked if I liked him, not in front of him, I told her I did. I asked her if she liked him, and she told me that she doesn't. The next day I asked him if he likes her, but he said only as a friend. He is getting me mad, and I don't know if he likes me, I feel like he doesn't, but he doesn't even treat me like a good friend. What should I do, I really like him?

- Also I have never told him that I like him since I feel that it would make him think that I am strange.
