Dog breeds that are low energy and minimal barkers?

Help? I'm looking for such dogs. Prefer small to medium breeds, but large ones are okay. I've looked at websites, but I don't know how accurate they are.

I have a cross between a chihuahua and a terrier. Never barks, but he meowed once. All he does is sleep on the couch all day, and he's the sweetest dog ever.

Low energy? Dogs have to be played with, given time to expend energy and keep active to stay healthy.
